Coronavirus Catch-up Premium
We have been allocated £80 per child to aid with curriculum recovery as a result of school closures in March. Research states that curriculum recovery should start with reading and as such we’ve channelled our funding into the purchase of almost 400 new books – ranging from early phonics graded readers to high-interest low ability titles to attract reluctant or less-confident readers in Key Stage 2.
The initial response to the books has been really positive and we’re already seeing evidence of children who were struggling to read post-lockdown moving up a reading scale ahead of our initial predictions.
Monitoring will be continual as is our way in the small-school environment from which we benefit.
