Pop Project

Lesson: British Values

This morning we enjoyed 'raising the roof' with three special visitors from The Pop Project.

The children were totally engaged in singing, dancing, dress-up and interactive games as they learnt all about our key British Values: Democracy, Tolerance, Mutual Respect, Rule of Law and Individual Liberty.

During our morning, we explored different ways of greeting people from around the world, as well as speaking Scottish, Welsh and Irish Gaelic. We played different instruments (the harp, bagpipes, fiddle and the Irish drum) associated with each of the countries in the United Kingdom.

We thoroughly enjoyed singing along to the live music of songs originally sung by the Beatles, Proclaimers, Stereophonics and Katie Perry.

Some influential great Britons were explored, including Sir WInston Churchill, Isaac Newton, Captain Cook and Florence Nightingale.

Ultimately, we discovered that British Values underpin the motto, 'We all need to get along with each other.' What better song to finish with than 'We Are Family.' Perfect for our Pott Shrigley Family.
