Curriculum
At Pott Shrigley Church School we offer a bespoke, immersive and progressive curriculum. A curriculum that is built on our foundations of a strong Christian ethos and values. Our Mission Statement 'Be Kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ, God forgave you, Ephesians 4:32, is one we live out every day in everything we do.
Our curriculum is designed with our children at the heart. Enabling them to 'hook' into learning, experiment, take risks and make links that go beyond our school, links to the real world. We aim not just to prepare our children for the next stage of their education, but to ensure our children know that life is for learning; about ourselves, each other, our world, the past, and the future. We endeavour to create life-long learners who understand the importance of their education and can use it to create social change within their lives and that of others.
Our curriculum is based on a two or three year cycle to ensure all objectives for each year group are covered in our mixed age classes. Our curriculum has been devised using 'Golden threads' which run through various curriculum areas. These are the key concepts taken from the National Curriculum which drive and underpin our curriculum design. Each 'Goldren thread' identifies a key area of learning which is repeated as children move through the school. They combine skills and knowledge into concepts which allow children to develop transferable learning between subjects and topics.
