Goyt Valley Trip

What an amazing day we had in the Goyt Valley! We explored the area with Ranger Neil, learnt about the history of Errwood Hall from Ranger Eric and planted a Mountain Ash alongside the growing saplings Pott Shrigley children planted several years ago! At Errwood Sailing Club, who kindly let us use their fantastic premises, we discovered how to tie sailing knots which some found very tricky and learnt about water safety.  A very knowledgable man showed us how to make fishing lures from wool, feathers and deerskin. We watched fisherman catch Rainbow trout and examined their catch learning about the features of fish before barbecuing them and tasting the delicious treat. Finally we all went out on a power boat with Andy who showed us the features of the reservoir including the drowned village and old roads disappearing into the water. We saw lots of wildlife and even helped guide a lost duckling back to its mother. We all shared some wonderful new experiences together in the most beautiful valley. Thank you Mrs Novacki for all your work arranging this memorable day for us!
