Pott Shrigley Class 2 2017 - 2018

Miss Smith

Welcome to Class 2!

Welcome to 2018 - The Spring Term!

We have started the term with an exciting 'Fairgrounds' topic where we have been looking at forces, designing some of our own fairground rides and creating simple electricity circuits. We have linked  our literacy writing to our topic by creating some short horror and mystery stories; inspired by fairgrounds. We have also looked at Lewis Carroll's poem, 'The Jabberwocky'. This has helped us write our own nonsense poems.

In maths, we have been learning about 2D and 3D shapes, as well as exploring and making links between fractions, decimals and percentages. We recognise how important our times tables knowledge is in both of these areas of maths. We hope you continue to support your child in learning these number facts at home too.

We have enjoyed welcoming our new class teaching assistant, Mrs Bradley, and she is thoroughly enjoying working with the wonderful children in class 2.

After the February break we will be looking forward to coming back to school and starting on our new WW2 topic.

Don't forget -

  • Homework/spellings are given out and collected every Monday.
  • PE kits should be left in school for the half term.
  • Reading should be encouraged at home daily.
  • Swimming kit is needed for a Tuesday (Years 4 and 5 only).

Happy Spring Term!

Miss Smith and Mrs Bradley
